Welcome to AquaVoices.com

aquavoices.com is a new site and blog especially dedicated to underwater acoustics for marine biological research and investigations. We focus on measuring and recording of data as well as data logging and associated presentation of collected data.

Our equipment is specifically dedicated to the use of marine biological research related to whale research and other studies related to underwater acoustic activity.

We focus on putting together and describe complete systems so as to avoid any loose ends as the user later should make sure to obtain on their own. Things that you often only discover when you're in a situation and where it often is a little too late to do anything about it.

We combine the systems partly using existing components like the user's own standard computer systems and monitors and partly with different purchased units and equipment from third party suppliers. All this complemented by our own devices to complete the final setup.

Our main focus is to reduce the cost to acquire equipment for underwater acoustics and to make the equipment complete and operational.

We recommend not exclusively our own devices but also links directly to various different external suppliers of the equipment that we recommend so that the user may purchase the equipment yourself or you may have purchased in advance.

Although our interest obviously is to distribute our own products and devices we avail ourselves of the things already invented and marketed in excellent ways and even at very reasonable prices. All for the sake of keeping the overall costs down it is absolutely paramount to us that we concentrate on the things that we believe we can do better.

We will Focus on 6 scenarios on this blog

Low cost measuring and recording equipment for students and candidates who work at studies of sea mammals and other marine animals. These units may also useful for monitoring and data collection over time of machinery and other installations generating underwater sounds.

Stand alone hydrophone amplifier setups that will match existing recording equipment and commercial studio equipment and that will interface directly with standard laptop computers.

Power amplifiers for driving underwater high frequency transmitting devices like piezo ceramic transducers. These amplifiers may also be used for driving a set of conventional loudspeakers for listening and public presentation.

Multichannel hydrophone amplifiers suited for towed arrays and for flat array systems intended for sound field investigations and spectrum analysis. These amplifiers will typically have manual switch buttons for controlling the input impedance and filter and gain settings.

Simplified circuitry of hydrophone amplifiers with configurable filters and gain settings with custom defined number of channels. These amplifiers are especially dedicated for building in into autonomous bouyes along with other equipment where the operator usually does not have the frequent access. The filters may be preset internally using PC boards jumper settings which features the smallest possible printed circuit board size and a very low cost and low current consumption while featuring long operation time and high stability.

Balanced output hydrophone amplifiers for driving long cables and suited to match common data acquisition equipment. Amplifiers that has a low current consumption and low voltage supply. These amplifiers are small in size suitable for building in into autonome bouyes or fixed laboratory installations. They are to be custom designed and available in different versions like individual printed circuit boards or build in into watertight boxes or arranged with any number of channels in a suitcase or as a 19 inch rack mount version.

About the company history
The company etec (owner of AquaVoices.com) was founded back in 1982. etec is short for "electronic technical engineering and construction" and that's actually what we do.

Custom designs and manufacturing of electronic circuits. We also sell "off the shelf" products which you will find on this site.
We have more than 30 years of experience in constructing and manufacturing of low-noise amplifiers for audio and underwater acoustics.

We are specialized in design and manufacturing of low-noise front-end conditional amplifiers for picking up of extremely weak signals from various sensors like capacitive couplers, piezoelectric ceramics, inductive resonators and other low level transducer elements for measuring and recording.

We offer service on professional sound equipment and disk cutting equipment and we do service on the Ortofon Cutterheads for lacquer disk cutting.

We are capable of handling less than 1uVolt of signal level in the audible frequency range and we cover the frequency range from 0.1Hz to 1MHz.

Our equipment is especially designed for research and development in laboratory facilities and for fishery authorities for control of acoustic pingers on fishing equipment in regards to EU regulations and/or external use under critical or extreme weather conditions.
