Hydrophone amplifier with high input impedance, buffered output and buildin batteries - B1501

The B1501 amplifier has a very low noise level and a wide range of filtering possibilities so it can be used for both listening to very tiny signals and for handling very large signals.

This device was originally intended for stationary use in harsh climatic environments but it seams like it has become the best standard hydrophone amplifier also for laboratory use. It is the most versatile unit in our product line both for research and development and also for installation in equipment that does not require frequently access to the amplifiers internal controls. All controls are located inside the box to make the device more resistant to water.

The amplifier has a built-in power supply of 2 pcs. 9volt PP3 square batteries.
It may also be powered by an external 12 to 24Volt battery or a laboratory power supply.

The unit has a very low power consumption of approximately 12mAmp and the maximum operating time
is about 8 to 12 hours on a set of fully charged batteries.
With dry cell Alkaline 9volt batteries the operating time can be up to 48 for hours.

The device offers filters of low pass and high pass and a gain setting. The amplifier also provides variable input resistance and input capacitance so as to allow for filtering and/or damping of the transducer signal direct input terminal.
This is especially useful for the purpose of handling very large input signal levels such as explosions or large sea-waves.
The filter section provides a wide range of adjustments so as to emphasize on the frequency range special interest.

Operaters quick guide to B1501:
Hydrophone and Filter Amplifier:
Battery powered / Charge Voltage 24Volt
Batteries and Control Buttons

inside box

Low pass filter for anti-aliasing filtering:
2.nd order filter 12dB / October 6dB @ Frequency

High pass filter for filtering off low freq. seawaves:
1.st order filter 6dB / October -3dB @ Frequency
Used in conjunction with Input Resistance filter
will result in a 2.nd order high-pass filter.

Input Resistance:
Used to form a high-pass filter directly to the input terminals togetherwith Transducer capacitance TCcap
The cut-off freq. is equal to: 1 / (2 Pi x Rinp x TCcap.)

Input capacitance:
Used to form an input attennuator to handle very strong input signals
Attenuation occurs between the transducer kapsiteten and input kapsiteten
Attenuation is equal to: CINP / (CINP + TCcap.)

The thumbscrews are made of marine bronze which is resisant to seawater.
This box is only semi-waterproof. It will not be able to withstand water pressure.
Remove the top cover to gain access to set the controls.
Press down on the top cover to loosen and tighten the screws.

Batteries 2 pcs. 9volt NiMh type PP3
They contain about 200mAh and will last up to 10 hours on a single charge.
Charger 24Volt will take 5 hours to recharge the batteries ..
Keep batteries cool when not in use for extended periods.

Do not overcharge. Please recycle the batteries when they are worn out.
The device can in emergency run on 2pcs. 9 Volt dry cells like Alkaline batteries.
Remember to remove them after use. Dry batteries can if they are left in the device for a longer period eventually leak acid, and may spoil the amplifier completely. Dry cell batteries must not be recharged.
